Shared or work computers can log activity or run monitoring software. Use a personal device that only you have access to.
Install Tor Browser from the source
Download it only from the Tor Project website or the official app store listing, and let it update itself.
Get the address from the docs
Copy the torzon onion from the overview page of these docs after it shows Verified, rather than from a forum or chat.
Plan where notes go
Decide in advance where you will keep any passwords or addresses: an offline password manager, not a notes app that syncs.
