Turning on full-disk encryption for your device
Encryption protects what is stored on the device when you are not there.

Why it matters
Bookmarks, saved passwords and notes about any torzon onion are readable by anyone who gets an unencrypted device.
Check your system
Most modern systems include it: BitLocker or Device Encryption on Windows, FileVault on macOS, LUKS on many Linux installers.
Phones
Recent Android and iOS devices encrypt storage when a screen lock is set. Use a PIN or passphrase, not a simple pattern.
Keep the recovery key offline
Write down or print the recovery key and store it somewhere safe, not in the same cloud account as the device.
Tip Turn on full-disk encryption and keep its recovery key offline.
Addresses The verified Torzon addresses are listed on the overview page.
